Publication of Draft Flood Risk Management Plans for Public Consultation


The Office of Public Works (OPW) statutory public consultation commenced on Friday 15th July, 2016 for the draft Flood Risk Management Plans for the Shannon Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) study. The public consultation on the draft Plans is a requirement under the European Communities (Assessment and Management of Flood Risks) Regulations 2010 - S.I. No 122 of 2010, as amended by Regulations S.I. No 495 of 2015.The public consultation for the Shannon CFRAM study areas commences on Friday 15th July until Friday 23rd September, 2016 both dates inclusive and the OPW have requested the documents be put on display securely for public viewing. The OPW have provided enough copies of the draft plans to be displayed at the same locations as the draft flood maps last year (one copy and one spare for each location)  for Roscommon MD, Boyle MD Office and Athlone MD Office. There will be no books of final flood maps provided, these may be viewed on an OPW dedicated consultation website from 15th July- www.opw.ie/FloodPlans.

Submissions on the draft plans will only be taken by post or email to the OPW only, submissions are not to be taken at Council Offices. Observations or comments must be made directly in writing to the Office of Public Works (OPW), Head OfficeJonathan Swift Street, Trim, Co. Meath, C15 NX36or via the email address draftplans@opw.ie

An Information Note for Councillors from the Office of Public Works in relation to the upcoming statutory public consultation on the draft Flood Risk Management Plans has been circulated to the Elected Members.

The draft Plans and related Environmental Assessments, Information Leaflets and Posters are available for public viewing from Friday 15th July until Friday 23rd September, 2016 at the following Roscommon County Council Offices :
